BEECY PRIVACY POLICY
Introduction and Legal Compliance
Beecy is committed to protecting the privacy and personal data of its users. This Privacy Policy explains in detail what information we collect, how we use it, with whom we share it, and your rights regarding your information. The processing of your personal data by Beecy complies with Colombian Law 1581 of 2012 and Decree 1377 of 2013, and aligns with international standards such as the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), ensuring high standards of legality, transparency, security, and user control.
By accessing and using Beecy, you acknowledge that you understand and accept the terms of this policy. If you disagree, we recommend not using the app or its associated services.
Personal Data We Collect
a. Data You Provide Directly
- Basic registration data: full name, ID number, email, date of birth, phone number, address, and photos.
- Identity verification data: to ensure authenticity and prevent duplicate or fraudulent accounts, we collect official documents (e.g., national ID, passport, or driver's license), including photo, number, and issuance date. We also collect selfies to verify identity and ensure it matches the document provided. This verification is mandatory and grants a “verified user” badge.
- Optional additional information: when you participate in surveys, promotions, sweepstakes, or contact us via support, we may receive and store your messages, opinions, ratings, or shared multimedia content (e.g., images or recordings).
b. Data Collected Automatically
- Geolocation data: to enable core functionalities, we collect your device’s location (precise or approximate) using GPS, Wi-Fi, or mobile networks. You can manage location permissions in your device settings. Disabling it may limit app functionality.
- Usage and navigation data: information about visited screens, features used, session durations, interactions, error events, clicks, and other relevant metrics to improve user experience and ensure platform security.
- Device data: device model and manufacturer, OS and version, unique identifiers, IP address, language, mobile carrier, network, and regional settings.
- Internal communication data: for messaging functions, metadata (date, time, duration, sender, recipient) is collected. In specific and justified cases (e.g., security incidents or support), message content may be reviewed with notification and in accordance with the law.
c. Data from Third Parties
- External authentication services (optional): if you register or log in via Google, Facebook, or others, we may receive basic data like name, email, and profile picture.
- Referral users: if someone invites you through a referral program, we may receive your name and email to send the invitation.
- Public sources or authorities: in specific legal contexts, we may receive or verify information to enhance security or meet regulatory requirements.
Purpose of Data Processing
- Service delivery and operation: creating and managing your account, identity verification, enabling app interaction and features, ensuring a personalized experience.
- Security and trust: fraud prevention, detection of suspicious activities, verifying authenticity, restricting unauthorized access, and safeguarding the Beecy community.
- Communication: sending security alerts, account updates, reminders, confirmations, important notices, responses to inquiries, and promotional content (with your consent).
- Continuous improvement: analyzing usage metrics, diagnosing issues, developing new features, and optimizing the app based on aggregated statistics and anonymized or pseudonymized behaviors.
- Legal and regulatory compliance: fulfilling obligations to competent authorities, resolving legal disputes, meeting tax and legal requirements, and protecting Beecy’s rights and interests.
Legal Basis for Processing
- Informed and explicit consent: granted by accepting this policy and using the app, especially for sensitive data like facial biometrics.
- Contract execution: when processing is necessary to provide the requested services.
- Legal compliance: when the law requires retaining or sharing specific information.
- Legitimate interest: to improve security, prevent fraud, and optimize the user experience, provided your rights and freedoms are not overridden.
Data Sharing and Disclosure
Beecy does not sell or rent your personal data to third parties for independent commercial purposes. However, your data may be shared in the following cases:
- Service providers (processors): third parties offering hosting, identity verification, messaging, data analytics, or technical support. These providers are under strict confidentiality agreements and may only use data to provide contracted services.
- Legal requirements and authorities: upon valid legal requests, data may be shared with judicial, administrative, or oversight authorities to comply with the law or protect Beecy and its users.
- Corporate transfers: in case of mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, or corporate restructuring, data may be transferred to the acquiring party under the same protection standards stated herein.
Information Security
Beecy implements technical, administrative, and organizational measures to protect your personal data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. This includes encryption in transit and at rest, restricted access controls, continuous monitoring, security audits, incident response protocols, and internal staff training.
While we adopt robust industry standards, no system is completely infallible. Therefore, your collaboration is key: protect your credentials, update passwords regularly, and report any suspicious activity promptly.
Data Retention
Your data will be retained for as long as necessary to fulfill the stated purposes, maintain a service relationship, or comply with legal obligations. Once those periods end, your data will be securely deleted or anonymized, unless there is a legal basis for further retention (e.g., defense against future claims).
Account Deletion and Data Removal
Beecy provides all users with the ability to delete their account and personal data directly from the app’s settings section, in compliance with international data protection standards and app store requirements. When a deletion request is made, all associated personal data will be permanently erased from our systems, unless retention is legally required (e.g., for fraud prevention, compliance, or defense against claims). This includes identification documents, geolocation history, messages, photos, and account credentials.
Deleting the mobile app from your device does not delete your account. You must complete the deletion process within the app. If you need assistance, you may also contact us at our Support Center.
User Rights
As the data owner, you have the following rights:
- Access your data.
- Rectify inaccurate or incomplete information.
- Delete your data where applicable (right to be forgotten).
- Object to processing under specific circumstances.
- Data portability (where applicable).
- Withdraw previously granted consent.
- File complaints with data protection authorities (in Colombia, the Superintendence of Industry and Commerce).
To exercise these rights, send a request to our Support Center. For your safety, we may request additional information to verify your identity before processing your request.
Children's Privacy
Beecy is intended only for users aged 14 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover that data was collected from a minor without proper consent, we will delete it promptly.
Third-Party Links
Our app may contain links or integrations with external platforms (e.g., social networks or messaging services). Use of these links is governed by each third party’s privacy policy. We recommend reviewing their terms before sharing data.
Policy Updates
Beecy may update this Privacy Policy at any time. Material changes will be notified via the app or registered email. The current version will always be available within the app and on our website.
Acceptance and Validity
Continued use of the app implies your express acceptance of this policy. If you disagree, you must stop using Beecy and may request account deletion.
